Childhood is the world of magic.
It’s where the simple possibility of finding a butterfly creates anticipation, wide eyes, and hope.
Simple, is a beautiful word.
From the moment I met little Charlie….simple was the word that spoke volumes to me. He seemed to burst with excitement to explore.
Like all children, given the opportunity to embrace the magic of childhood, his eyes sparkled with adventure.
He is on the verge of 4 and anxiously awaiting 2 gifts for his birthday (not 1, not 4, but continuously noted: TWO gifts)
He spoke of The Avengers, as his favorite story–giving every member of his family a character to imitate.
Little Jack, only 8 months old, looked on in awe at his older brother; watching, laughing and learning about the world he will soon be able to explore on his own.
Childhood makes a mundane world– fresh and new–awakening an astonishment in something as simple as new spring flowers, bubbles soaring through the air, shoulder rides on daddy, wrestling in the grass, special kisses with secret names with mommy, silly songs, and caterpillar sounds.
Jack and Charlie have this special gift of family;
where their individual stories are intertwining with their parents–creating a beautiful song.
It’s where there is love, acceptance, forgiveness–happiness,
the opportunity for childhood,
and the talk of donuts serenading us the entire walk back.
Let’s not miss the magic.
