Nobody can truly prepare you for the journey of parenthood.
The new developments
(let’s not forget those sleepless nights)
It’s not so much a new chapter in your life, it’s like opening a whole new book.
Jackson’s home was a perfect canvas of his first year. The piles of his favorite books, stuffed animals, leftover decorations from his first birthday party.
His first year of life imprinted through each room.
I watched his daddy read to him as he listened intently – turning the pages on his own.
I watched him dance feeling so accomplished – while us adults cheered him on. I watched his tiny fingers bang across the keys of the piano. I watched him play catch with his ball–and crawl all over, full of energy.
His parents looked at him with a joyous wholeness–a love that’s been embraced through the sleepless nights, early mornings and all the time in between.
He was their gift-just 1 year ago, and with him was ushered in the exhilarating day to day adventure
that is parenthood.
Happy First Birthday, Jackson!
You’re so very loved, and so deserving.
“I believe in pink. I believe that laughing is the best calorie burner. I believe in kissing, kissing a lot. I believe in being strong when everything seems to be going wrong. I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day and I believe in miracles.”
The fourth time she felt that first kick.
The fourth time the weight was carried through each step of her day.
The fourth time she caressed the love within, knowing the agony that awaits her. The agony of bringing the new love growing inside to live on the outside.
The fourth time she anticipated that moment, remembering full well the pain that will need to be embraced in order to embrace this new person.
the continuous steps of sacrifice, which define motherhood,
began for the fourth time on January 28th, 2015.
While the darkness of the night surrounded her, and all those around her slept,
–brave and strong–
welcoming the pain–remembering she was birthing love, and repeating the only comforting words that would come to mind,
“Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid, for the Lord your God is with you.”
Eventually, her loved ones surrounded her-while still in the comfort of her own home. She leaned on them, and listened to their encouraging words, for this fourth time.
This child, the fourth, named after her surprise beginning, “a gift from God”, after her great-grandmother, entered the world and went into the many arms of all those waiting — waiting for the prize, their joy —
and to be loved well.
Welcome to the world
